Nova Scotia opened its Express Entry stream on November 17 in 2018

Nova Scotia which accepts applicants through the Express Entry system opened up its application window for this scheme on 17th November 2018. During the time this application window was open, almost 225 applicants applied to it. This immigration stream is known as the Nova Scotia Demand: Express Entry(category B) stream. The candidates who are interested in going to Nova Scotia actually choose this province because it has 11 occupations as per the Federal Skilled worker class. The application window for this immigration stream closes within hours because the immigration quota does not last beyond that time. The Nova Scotia has two immigration streams which are Nova Scotia Demand: Express Entry (category B) and Nova Scotia Labor Market Priorities Stream.

The candidates were only selected for immigration once they have a 1 year of experience in the previous 6 years in one of the following 11 occupations from their home country. To be able to apply as per the Nova Scotia Demand: Express Entry((category B)  stream a candidate should have experience in one of the 11 listed occupations. These opportunity occupations apply to NOC codes 0, A and B. They are as follows:

Title of the occupation NOC Skill level
Other financial officers 1114 A
Financial Auditors and Accountants 1111 A
Civil engineers 2131 A
Administrative assistants 1241 B
Accounting technicians and bookkeepers 1311 B
Professional occupations in advertising, marketing, and public relations 1123 A
Licensed practical nurses 3233 B

This is the second time Nova Scotia  has invited applications this year

Prior to November 17th, Nova Scotia also opened this stream for application on April 30th of 2018. However, unlike the 17th November application window, it accepted the applications for the category B Nova Scotia Demand: Express Entry. So, by being in touch with an immigration consultant, you can apply to these immigration streams if you wish.

Apart from the Nova Scotia: Express Entry stream there is also the Nova Scotia Labor Priorities Stream. This stream also has invites applicants but for that, they should have experience in only one profession(Early Childhood Educators and Assistants). However, it’s important that you are able to show work experience in this profession. A Letter Of Reference is needed from an employer for this purpose. This experience should be as much as 2 years. The first draw for this stream happened on August 8th of this year. This steam also requires an applicant to apply as per the Express Entry only and no separate application is needed for it. Keep in touch with a visa consultant to know when the application window will open for this stream.

Next step after applying to Express Entry

After getting shortlisted for the Nova Scotia: Labor Market Priorities Stream, the candidate gets a Letter of Interest from NSOI(Nova Scotia Office of Immigration). The candidate can then make an application for the Provincial Nomination Certificate of this province. After receiving this certificate, you can then go forward and apply for the Express Entry. This kind of certificate is needed because it then becomes easier for you to get selected for the Canada immigration through the Express Entry.
